Phase 1 --- for a week
1. Find out how much new paper normally goes into printer each week.
(will ask Nancy)
2. Find out how much new paper goes into printer after this act for a week.
- mark number on each package of new paper, in order to easily know how many packages have been used
- place a few recycling boxes on floor
- make a printer specially for re-printing
- put a sign and instructions at each box
- change the printer name in ITP computers to indicate clearly the printer for re-printing
- at the end of the week, count the new paper in printer, with knowing how many packages of paper left at Nancy's office calculate the percentage of paper being saved.
Q: how many and where the recycling boxes should be placed?
Which printer is better for this with respect to its location and use frequency?
Any other actively assistant methods to rise people's awareness and encourage more change in people's behavior? (make use of Friday's social time? call for integrating with other ITP projects? ...)
Phase 2 --- for following weeks if possible
1. see the trend of the percentage of paper saved through the following weeks
2. if successful, make recommendation to ITP to make this as policy. Maybe also to Tisch, NYU.
